We at PFA Chandigarh, have undertaken a special project under the Community Service Scheme titled -PROJECT SAHYOG.
The details of this project are -
1- Under this Project we would be collecting paper waste i.e. newspapers from residences and the corporate sector recycling and reusing them by making paper bags and envelopes, which will then be distributed free of cost.
2- This waste would be collected once a month from each house/corporate office on a cycle cart by young adults (i.e. 18 years and above) who are associated with street children organizations. The shift of each young adult would be spilt into 4 hours of working and the other half would include either school education (evening classes) or any other vocational course they would like to undertake. The same would be funded through the said Project.
Children at Society for Rehabilitation of the Mentally Challenged making newspaper bags
The main objective of this Project is to involve the community in conserving the environment through small initiatives such as recycling of newspapers and increasing the usage of newspaper bags and envelopes. Project Sahyog is also being used as a platform to combine the efforts of different causes, i.e. Piya Sharma Charitable Trust (PSCT) and mentally challenged children at SOREM as well as People for Animals, Chandigarh. It is our endeavour to use the platform of Project Sahyog, so as to involve the community at large in social welfare issues.
